A Southern California native, Dr. Hirano earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Southern California (USC). He then completed his internship and residency at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, where he was selected as Chief Resident his final year before going on to do his Fellowship in infectious diseases at LA County-USC Medical Center. Dr. Hirano wanted to be a doctor from the age of five. He believes everyone deserves excellent care and he works to provide that for all his patients. Dr. Hirano appreciates the opportunity to have long-term relationships with his patients - knowing someone for a long period of time provides insights and the ability to pick up on non-verbal clues that often enhance patient care.
Dr. Hirano is proud to be a die-hard USC football fan, as well as a fan of Clippers basketball and Angels baseball. He is an admitted science fiction/fantasy geek and enjoys movies and novels of that genre. Prior to joining MemorialCare Medical Group, he was in private practice in the Long Beach area for over 15 years.
