Dr. Sarcon serves as a distinguished electrophysiologist, enriching the field of advanced cardiovascular care with her wealth of expertise. Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and electrophysiology; she specializes in cutting-edge interventions to address a wide array of cardiac conditions.
Beginning her academic journey at UCLA, Dr. Sarcon pursued dual master’s degrees in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Physiology/Biophysics at Georgetown University before furthering her research acumen through multiple fellowships at the national institute of Health (NIH). Her dedication to unraveling the complexities of cardiovascular health led her to become a Fulbright Scholar in Spain and Switzerland, where she delved into the intricacies of stem cells in myocardial regeneration and heart conditions disproportionately affecting women. Notably, her research in Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, or “Broken Heart Syndrome”, has significantly contributed to the field. Dr. Sarcon has authored over 30 publications, including a landmark paper in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Completing her fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at USC and further specializing in Electrophysiology through a fellowship at UCSF, Dr. Sarcon’s expertise extends to the forefront of cardiac care. Her dedication to advancing the field is mirrored in her active involvement in cardiology-centered professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.
Beyond her clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Sarcon remains deeply committed to education and community outreach. As a junior faculty member at UC Riverside and a volunteer faculty member at UC Irvine, she shares her knowledge and expertise with the next generation of medical professionals. Additionally, her involvement in the “EP Save a Life Foundation” underscores her commitment to preventative care, offering free cardiac screenings to teens to mitigate sudden cardiac arrest risks.
Specializing in state-of-the-art pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, including innovative techniques like leadless pacemakers and conduction system pacing, Dr. Sarcon provides comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s needs. Her proficiency extends to performing ablations for conditions such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardias, premature ventricular contractions, and ventricular tachycardias. With a keen interest in genetic arrythmias, women’s cardiovascular disease, and healthcare disparities, Dr. Sarcon ensures holistic and patient-centered care.
Dr. Sarcon’s advanced training and expertise, coupled with her compassionate approach to patient well-being, exemplifies her unwavering commitment to excellence in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.
