Effective January 1, 2023, Monarch/Optum will no longer be a participating partner in the MemorialCare Health Alliance (MCHA) plan and all its physicians – both primary care and specialists – as well their three urgent care centers in Anaheim, Cypress and Seal Beach and their three imaging centers in Anaheim, Anaheim Hills and Whittier will no longer be considered in-network.

MCHA members who are currently seeing a Monarch/Optum provider and wish to continue to receive in-network benefits will be able to continue to receive care from their current Monarch/ Optum provider until December 31, 2022. During this year’s annual enrollment period ,or within the next year, these members may want to consider one of the following options:

You can remain in the MCHA Preferred Partnership plan by:

  1. Receiving care from your current Optum provider until December 31, 2022, knowing you will no longer be able to see this provider beginning January 1, 2023 and still receive the in-network benefit level; and.
  2. Choosing a new doctor during open enrollment this year from one of these medical groups -- MemorialCare Medical Group, Greater Newport Physicians, Edinger Medical Group, Torrance Memorial or PIH Health. Or you can choose a new Boeing healthcare plan during annual enrollment – the standard version of either the Advantage+ plan or Traditional Medical Plan – and continue to use Monarch/Optum doctors and facilities.

  • You’ll get the in-network level of benefit in those plans, but you’ll no longer get the incentives associated with the Preferred Partnership plan. For example, you won’t get the lower paycheck contributions, or higher Health Savings Account contributions, and you won’t get zero-cost primary care visits or generic prescription drugs.
