Dr. Usama Mahmood is a board-certified Radiation Oncologist who has been practicing for 10 years.
Originally from Southern California, Dr. Mahmood completed his undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of California, Irvine, where he received numerous academic distinctions (including graduating magna cum laude and being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society). He then completed his Radiation Oncology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident. This was followed by fellowship training in specialized Radiation Oncology techniques at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. He initially served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Radiation Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, the nation’s top cancer hospital.
Dr. Mahmood has contributed significantly towards medical research, having published more than 100 abstracts, manuscripts, and book chapters on a wide range of cancer topics during his career (see link to PubMed publications). He enjoys educating residents and medical students and has been recognized for his teaching efforts. Finally, he has served on many national committees related to his specialty, including as an editor of a medical journal and as a specialty board examiner.
Dr. Mahmood is on the medical staff at Long Beach Medical Center, Orange Coast Medical Center and Saddleback Medical Center and is a professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, Irvine. His practice focuses on the application of specialized radiation techniques towards the treatment of cancer.
